Whether you're renovating or building, replacing windows can dramatically change your space.
When choosing a window, there are a number of different factors to consider to ensure you choose the best one. At EE Windows, we offer a variety of window options, which means that whatever your preference, we'll have energy-efficient and stylish windows for your space. We've put together a short guide on how to choose the best windows for your space.
What is the purpose of the room?
The purpose of your room will be the biggest determining factor in your choice of windows. If you're looking for new windows for a common space like your kitchen or living room, you'll probably want an open and welcoming look that might bring you outdoors. This bright feel can be done well with picture window options, as they provide a clear view of the outdoors, allow plenty of light, and are not disturbed by panes or other fixtures. If you're looking for new windows for a private space, such as a bathroom, you may want lower visibility but higher ventilation for the humidity created by showers and tubs. Sliding window options will allow for ventilation and can be paired with stylish plantation shutters or practical integral shutters for added privacy.
How much airflow do you want in the room?
Some window types are fixed, some are partially open, and some are fully open. Taking into account the airflow you want in your space will be an important deciding factor in your choice of windows. Picture windows do not allow airflow because they act as frames for the outdoors rather than openings. Tilt n' Turn windows offer ample outdoor views and some ventilation, with 2 different opening options to help customize your airflow. To fully maximize your bi-fold airflow, both casement and sliding windows are great options!
Are you trying to capture the view?
If capturing the view is your priority, bigger is better. Floor-to-ceiling windows can be placed seamlessly alongside the glass doors leading to the outdoor oasis, or stand alone, maximizing the overall view. If outside views are not a priority, you can opt for a smaller, more strategic option that provides good airflow and light. The location of such windows will depend on the orientation of your home and your geographic location.
